Officially incorporated in 1858, Westerville is a city straddling Delaware and Franklin counties. The renowned private college, Otterbein University is based in Westerville. Benjamin Russell Hanby is a famous son of the city, his home, the Hanby House, is located one block from the college and is a museum devoted to this composer who wrote the Christmas song, “Up On The Housetop”. The Westerville school district is recognized statewide as a leading edge school district. Also featuring 600 acres of parks, 30 miles of bike paths, and a village of mostly family owned businesses, Westerville has small town charm with the big city of Columbus only minutes away.
